Motivation, Engagement and Persistence Community Insights Executive Summary Phase II: Relevance and Belonging
This executive summary is a continuation of work done in partnership between members of the Insights Confab – BUILD.org, MissionWired, and ResultsLab – and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2023 to better understand elements of student Motivation, Engagement, and Persistence (MEP) in action in the math learning space. Following initial collaborative findings, partners of the Insights Confab engaged in a follow-up study focusing on elements of relevance and belonging in math. Here, each organization used a shared learning agenda and applied research/social listening methodologies to capture insights from their communities of students and teachers on the topic of fostering relevance and belonging in math.
